Rachel Carson really really would love to have Rachel Carson for a Famous American because I think we have a lot in common.  She loves taking care of animals and I do too. When I grow up I want to be a vet. She also wrote three books. One of then are silent springs (1962). I really like writing too. At the moment I’m writing one too. She altered people by how bad fertilizers and pesticides where to the earth. I care about the earth and this is our home and we should take care of it. We should make it a better place for everyone. That’s why I really really would love to have Rachel Carson for Famous Americans.

Rachel Carson

Rachel Louise Carson is a famous Marine Biologist. She was one of the few women in her field. Biology and Rachel were love at first sight at the age of five.     

Rachel Louise Carson was born on May 27, 1907 in Springdale Pennsylvania. Her parents were Maria and Robert Carson, they had three children including Rachel.  When she was young Rachel went to grammar school. She missed lots of school because her mother didn’t want her catching deadly flu’s. Even because of this she still was always an A+ student.

Rachel loved to write and she would write stories.  Then she would send then to St. Nicolas magazine. Some times she wouldn’t get her story published. But, other times she would get metals. She won metals lots of times. After getting her stories published Rachel knew she wanted to be a writer.

One day Rachel found a fossil in a rock and she looked to see what it was. It was a sea creature. She thought it was so interesting see wanted to learn more. She always wanted to see the ocean but she lived far away. She learned about different plant and animals. Soon she went to collage. Rachel attended (PCW) Pennsylvania collage for Women in Pittsburg . 

.  She had great grades of A’s. Soon she graduated from PCW.

Once Rachel graduated from PCW she got a job at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. She was one of the two women where she worked because of decimations against women. Later

Rachel had a son named Roger. Rachel‘s niece Marjie sadly died. Carson adopted Marjie‘s son Roger.

Then people started spraying harmful pesticides. These pesticides where getting into humans’ and animals’ bodies. The pesticides weren’t just killing bugs pesticides killing animals and harming people too. So Rachel decided to write a book about silent spring. The book was about spring being silent because the pesticides where killing animals. So with out noises from the animals the spring was silent.

Soon Rachel got a disease. Her doctor wouldn’t tell her because normally the doctor would tell all his patients’ husbands that their wife’s have a disease. But,  Rachel never got married. So Rachel’s friend who is a doctor looked at her medical files. He told her about the medical problems. After that Rachel had to either[  stay in bed or be in a wheel chair at all times. Then when she went to a convention. She was the only women there. She was in a meeting with the president of the United States of America. Rachel talked about to stop the use of DDT. Then she wanted to write another book to tell people how bad pesticides where. When she was in the middle of writing a book and she wanted it to be done by March. With Rachel getting sicker and sicker by the day she spent most of her time in the hospital. When March came around she didn’t get the book done. Sadly she passed away. After she passed people listen to her. They stopped using pesticides. Her goal was reached!
