He grew up to be a professional baseball player.  Therefore that’s why I would like to do my project on Jackie Robinson.    Go to this website for more information.

Listen to An Interview with Jackie Robinson

Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and now everyone can play baseball.  He also held a lot of jobs that he enjoyed.  For example, he played baseball and was in the army.

Jackie Robinson was born January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia. In school he played track, baseball, football and basketball. His father left the family when Jackie was only a baby. (His fathers name was Jerry and his mothers name was Mallie.) Jackie’s childhood was not easy.  During his childhood his parents were sharecroppers.  His parent’s rented farmland from a rich property owner.  Jackie’s mother moved the family to Pasadena, California when Jackie was a baby.  The Robinsons were the only African Americans on their block.  Jackie’s mother worked as a maid to support the family.  Jackie loved to read and he did well in school.  Jackie was the youngest person in his family.  Jackie dreamed to play sports when he grew up.

When Jackie was an adult, he married Rachel Isum on February 10, 1946. He lived in Rural, Georgia.  His job was a baseball player and actually in college he was thinking about playing as a professional football player and didn’t think about playing baseball.  Jackie had three children and their names were Jack Jr., Sharron and David.  He played baseball so he could break the color barrier.  When he was older he got drafted to go into the army.  When Jackie played baseball everyone yelled at him until the crowd noticed that he led his team to the championships.  After Jackie retired from baseball he worked for the National Association for Advancement of colored people.  This is a group that helps gain equal rights.  Jackie even got awards after he retired.  In 1982 Jackie became the first baseball player to ever be on a U.S. postage stamp.  Jackie’s parents chose the middle name Roosevelt to honor former president Theodore Roosevelt.  In baseball the rookie award was renamed the Jackie Robinson award in 1987.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton what she did to change the world is she gave women the right to vote. If we didn't have her women wouldn't have the right to vote and the law would allow men to beat up their wife's. Also hockey is a cool sport what are your interests in Jackie Robinson?
